Also, several of our employees are DAANCE certified. Additionally, we have employees that have privileges to work in the local hospitals where our doctors operate. Nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” helps mildly anxious patients relax during treatment. Nitrous is an odorless gas administered through the nose and puts you in a relaxed, euphoric state, though you’ll be fully awake. Once we remove the mask covering your nose, the effects will wear off immediately and you won’t experience any aftereffects.
IV conscious sedation is for patients with a moderate to severe level of anxiety. Administered intravenously, IV sedation helps you relax by inducing a “sleep” state and you’ll most likely not remember your procedure, though you are awake and responsive during the appointment. The effects of IV sedation will take a few hours to wear off.
General anesthesia is medically induced unconsciousness and is used for our more complex cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries. We have full capabilities in our AAAASF-accredited operating suites and have a certified nurse anesthetist on staff to monitor you during your surgery. Our advanced training ensures safe outpatient procedures.
Because our team consists of trained oral surgeons and a certified nurse anesthetist, we’re able to take on cases involving pediatric patients, including children with special needs. While our surgeons focus on the treatment, our nurse anesthetist is here to provide the proper levels of anesthesia and monitor the patient during the entire procedure. For apprehensive parents, this provides the most ideal environment for a child to receive surgical care. If your child needs surgery, we invite you to meet our team and staff today.
